During Monday's city council meeting an exchange between Lee and Williams turned racial. Lee said “ I am not going to have you talk to me any old way like I'm working in a cotton field.” To which Williams replied “you should be.”
After this comment was made Lee excused himself from the meeting but later returned.
The letter from NAACP President Larry Holmes, addressed to Mayor Chuck Shaheen and City Councilmen, requests that government leaders “humble themselves, and pray; turn from their wicked ways of name calling”.
Holmes goes on to say, "We believe public officials who are elected by the people are to serve ALL the people without regards to color, race, or religion and are mandated to do so. Council members with problems of being touched by blacks and wishing them back into "cotton fields" have no business serving on city council. We believe this Councilman would serve the city of Warner Robins better by resigning his position.”
When reached by phone this afternoon Councilman Williams said he had not seen the letter and when asked if he plans to resign his response was immediate and emphatic “I will not!.” He went on to say that he would like to meet with Mr. Lee, shake hands and put the whole thing behind them.

Look at all this man has done just in the last couple of weeks. The comment to Councilman Daron Lee was wrong but he also lied to a Patriot reporter, Pulled a gun on a tenant. All this in less than a month.
Mayor Shaheen, please do the right thing and ask this man to resign, for the good of our City.
I wonder why the acting DA has failed in his duty to indict Mr. Williams. Could it be politics?
Mr. Shaheen needs to start acting like a mayor and request that Williams be removed. But that would mean losing his only ally in office so that won't happen. I guess we will continue to be laughed at.
