The Perry Horseshoe Pitcher’s Club had two to win their class at the Hull Fall Open held in Hull Aug. 14.

Roger Strattan won the B Class while Andrea Defoe won the C Class.

Saturday, the Perry club will host the Sanctioned League Championships. The championships feature three pitchers selected by each club throughout Georgia to represent them. Those three then go head-to-head.

The tournament has been going on for 12 years with the big trophy award residing mainly in either Perry or Brunswick – with the winner keeping it for the year. Perry has won it eight years including last year at Brunswick.

Representing Perry – typically they use the top three finishers in their Spring League standings (there is one exception this year), said Buddy Ayer, who is the club’s publicity director – are: Dave McKim, Dan Sanders and recent World Champion winner Larry Myers.

Mary Ann Gibbs is the No. 1 sub (that’s the exception in that she won her class in the Spring League but opted to give up her primary spot to someone else) and Ayer is No. 2.

The tournament is set to begin at 10 a.m.
