The nation-wide gesture is the second by the restaurant chain. Joe Smith, assistant general manager of Applebee's on Russell Parkway in Warner Robins, said the initial event last year was a huge success.
"We had a phenomenal response," Smith recalled. "We were packed from the time we opened until the time we closed. We really had a great turnout."
According to Smith, active duty military, members of the reserve components and retired military are eligible for a free meal selected from a six-entre menu. The selections include a bacon cheeseburger, chicken tenders platter, fiesta lime chicken, 7-ounce steak, a 3-cheese pasta dish and oriental chicken salad.
A military identification card will be required, Smith stressed. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. and closes at 11 p.m.
"Everybody really seemed to enjoy it last year," he added.
