The Falcons stay perfect and Georgia reigns supreme at the cocktail party, good Monday Middle Georgia, I'm Brandon Evans, this is Patriot Sports.

Just like every Monday, lots of football to recap, but first, one local squad has its run in the state tournament come to a close Saturday.

The Veterans Lady Warhawks advanced to the Elite 8 round of the Class AAAA state tourney, but fell in straight sets Saturday at Columbus, 25-11, 25-14, 25-19.

Nothing for the Lady Warhawks to hangs their heads about, however, as it was their second straight trip to the Elite 8. They finish the season 34-6.

Now to football, and what an exciting weekend it was all around, from high school to college to the NFL. First let's take a look at some of the action from the Friday night games.

This was the scene at the Mac as Northside did what Northside does...no other way to put it really. They've outmatched every team they've played thus far this season, and Friday was no different. The Eagles defense pitching another shutout - their fourth of the season.

Another game of interest, this time in Class AAAA, Perry taking on Westside-Macon...it was just one of the tightly contested games Friday night. Perry has been involved in several close ones, having four of their games being decided by a touchdown or less and Friday was no different.

This next game, might have been the most closely contested of the night, it's Veterans against West Laurens, also a game of interest in Region 2-Quad A...it went down to the wire as well. Todd Wilson and myself were fortunate enough to have the call on that game, which will be our Patriot Game of the Week.

Now, let's look at those scores and see how everyone fared...

(8-0) Northside 35, Greenbrier 0

(7-1) Warner Robins 25, Grovetown 14

(3-5) Houston County 45, Evans 14

(4-4) Perry 28, Westside-Macon 33

(3-5) Veterans 17, West Laurens 21

(7-1) Westfield 38, Bulloch Academy 14

Also, don't forget about our Game of Week...Monday at Tuesday at 8 p.m. and Tuesday at 4 p.m.

From high school to college as teams from the state of Georgia are continuing to roll this season...except for Georgia Tech...

Let's look at those scores.

(7-1) Georgia 17, Florida 9

(3-5) Georgia Tech 17, BYU 41

(7-1) Ga. Southern 39, Chattanooga 31 3OTs

(7-2) Fort Valley 26, Morehouse 19

Here are some highlights from the Georgia-Florida game.

We'll have more on how the BCS standings are shaping up later this week on Patriot Sports...

Finally, on Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons remained undefeated...let's look at some of those highlights...

Matt Ryan certainly living up to his nickname this season.. Matty Ice...

Ryan finds Drew Davis for 15-yard TD to put the Falcons up early...then Ryan again, this time on a bomb down the sideline to Quintorris Lopez Jones, you know him as Julio...Falcons offense was firing on all cylinders, and the defense, as expected gave Mike Vick all kinds of problems as the Falcons roll...

The final of that game was 30-17...and as I said, the win moves the Falcons to 7-0 on the season...making those 1972 Miami Dolphins players and coaches keep that champagne on ice for at least one more week...as you know, they were the only undefeated team in NFL history...

That's going to do it for Patriot Sports, plenty more coming up this week including more coverage of local high school teams, more Mercer sports, and as always football, football, football. Until next time, I'm Brandon Evans, have a great night!
