POW/MIA
POW/MIA
September 21 is POW and MIA Recognition Day. In honor of that day, Robins Air Force Base held a ceremony at the Museum of Aviation to honor American Servicemen and women who have at one time been a Prisoner of War, or Missing in Action. Many local officials were present at the ceremony as well as Veterans from all military branches.

The guest of honor at the ceremony today was 89-year-old JD Lankford, who was a taken as a Prisoner of War during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Lankford was held prisoner of 188 days and he took the time to speak a little bit about that experience today.

Mr. Lankford says this day of recognition is important so people understand how they came to gain the freedoms they have today.

JD Lankford continued his Army service after World War II as a Sergeant First Class during the Korean War. During the course of his military career he earned 9 bronze stars and a purple heart.. and he says he would do it again.

To learn more about JD Lankford and his life, you can check out his autobiography, "Walk With Me". All proceeds from the purchase of that book go towards the National Army Historical Foundation.

How naive people are. I've confronted JD Lankford in the Naval Exchange Store at Kings Bay Submarine Base. He wasn't too happy when I asked as to why he did not have a blue disc under his crossed rifles, Infantry has been doing that since WW2 he then tried to redirect the attention to his CIB, yeah I know what one of those are too, then he points to his Bronze Star Medal, no oak leaf clusters and asked me if "i knew how many people he had to kill to get this award?"....Bronze Star Medal 9th award? you son of a bitch, that is amazing achievement considering Col. David Hackworth had 8 and I'd be hard pressed to find someone who had more than him.... not to mention his 9 Silver Star Medals... or his two awards of the Distinguished Service Cross. Also he wears a POW medal, why is it that during the battle of the bulge the Wehrmacht did not take any prisoners americans included? why is his name not listed on the returnee list?

simple he is a valor thief.

Respectfully,
