Master Sgt. Jim Lambert, an Air Force Reserve Command member at March Air Force Base, Calif., received the honor during ceremonies presided over by Col. Samuel Mahaney, commander of the 452nd Air Mobility Command.
Lambert, a firefighter in civilian job, joined with Master Sgt. Gene Jameson III from Robins to remove boxes of grenades and shoulder-launched missiles from the path of a rampaging fire at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan. The fire erupted after insurgents fired rockets into the compound, igniting largely wooden structures in the area. Officials said the quick, courageous actions of Lambert and Jameson saved the lives of at least 50 people who were attempting to extinguish the fire.
Jameson, a member of the 689th Combat Communications Wing at Robins, received The Bronze Star with Valor in late August
