ATLANTA (August 23, 2012) – Sen. Cecil Staton (R-Macon) received an A+ Rating on the Center for an Educated Georgia’s Legislative Report Card. The center is a part of the Georgia Family Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting educational advocacy and research. This distinction was awarded to lawmakers who continually demonstrate an unwavering commitment to advancing education reform at the state capitol. Senator Staton was one of 25 Senators who received an A+ rating.

“Education is one of the best investments we can make to ensure Georgia’s future prosperity,” said Sen. Staton. “As a state senator, I have worked tirelessly to champion public policy that strengthens Georgia’s education system and prepares students for the challenges of tomorrow.”

The Center for Educated Georgia’s Report Card lists current legislators' votes on major education legislation since 2007 in three areas - private school choice, public charter schools, and public school reform. According to these votes, legislators were assigned a grade in each category and accessed a final letter grade equivalent between A+ and F.
