After the first two rounds of the inaugural Women's Southeastern Challenge Match, Georgia has 11 points to lead Florida (9 1/2 points) and Alabama (5 1/2 points).

In round one Monday morning, Team Georgia, which has as one of its members Lacey Fears of Bonaire and Mary Riley of Perry, won five of its six matches to post a three-point lead, 5-2-2, at the Country Club of Ocala.

Helping Georgia earn its five points in round one included wins over Alabama from the pairs of Riley and Susan Rheney (3 and 2), Mercedes Huarte and Emee Herbert (4 and 3), Laura Coble and Rachel Dai (4 and 3); and wins over Florida, including Kathryn Fowler and Fears (2 up) and Emily Kurey and Lauren Court (1 up). The tandem of Brenda Pictor and Darlene Werhnyak was the lone Georgia team to fall in round one, 2 and 1, to the Floridians.

After weather delays throughout round two Monday afternoon, Georgia earned six additional points to bring its two-round total to 11. Round two saw victories from Riley and Rheney (3 and 2), Coble and Dai (3 and 2), Fowler and Fears (6 and 4) and Huarte and Herbert (4 and 2) over the Alabama squad. Wins from Coble and Dai (5 and 3) and Huarte and Herbert (4 and 2) over the Floridians gave Georgia its final points of the day. Kurey and Court finished all square in its match versus Florida.
