It may only be the third day of school in Houston County, but Warner Robins High School is ready to present it's first drama performance of the year. Director of the Theater Program, Tammy Fisher, says the students have been working hard all summer to be ready.

The production will be a musical performance of "The Color Purple", the theater production of a 1985 film starring Danny Glover, Whoopi Goldberg, and Oprah Winfrey. The basic plot of the story is about a young girl who loses her innocence at age 14 when she is forced to marry a man who abuses her. This may sound like mature content for a high school production, but Ms. Fisher says she thinks her student can handle it.

She adds the content has been cleaned up a bit and the show should be appropriate for viewers of all ages.

One thing that's different about this Warner Robins High School drama performance, is the cast is composed of both alumni and current students. In fact, cast ages range from 7 to 40. One alumna is Jessica Dunlap, who graduated from Warner Robins High in 2008. She is performing the lead role of Celie.

Jessica says it has been fun to return to Warner Robins High School for this performance.

The show starts tonight at 7pm... with performances on Saturday at 7 and Sunday at 3 as well.
