Your Houston County Weather: Partly cloudy, some later storms possible, highs in the mid 90.

Many Robins Air Force Base workers will be going to their jobs this morning at an Air Logistics Center, but they’ll leave this afternoon from an Air Logistics Complex. The official change-over ceremony taking place this morning at the Museum of Aviation. Its all part of an Air Force restructuring plan to reduce the number of centers from 12 to 5 and save some 109 million dollars annually.

A clear system wide lack of adherence to the First Amendment. That’s what the Wisconsin based Freedom From Religion Foundation is calling more alleged violations of separation of church and state in Houston County schools. The watchdog group says its gotten tips from local families regarding use of religious imagery, schools partnering with churches, and academic bowl questions on religion, among others. The school board has declined comment.

Developers want to build a new apartment complex and shopping center on some 100 acres straddling the Houston County/Peach County line. Well, last night Warner Robins City Council helped paved the way for that plan as they agreed to spend over $300,000 to run a sewer line along Highway 41 into the property. The developer has promised to pay part of the cost back to the city.

Governor Nathan Deal will be back in Middle Georgia today. He’ll be greeting folks at a fundraiser reception for State Senator Cecil Staton from 11:30 to 1 at Mercer’s University Center. For more information call 361-2737.

We now know the name of that man found unconscious bleeding from his head and face in Macon Saturday morning. 51 year old Albert Jelks remains in a coma at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. His body was discovered on the sidewalk of Vineville Avenue near where he works. Police trying to piece together what happened, if you can help call Crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.

A Macon man arrested for allegedly killing his three month old child. Richard Hicks now in custody facing murder charges in the crime that happened in a home on Edna Place Saturday afternoon.

He’s accused of holding his young children and their mother at gunpoint yesterday morning before surrendering to police. Now 23-year-old terry Warren is behind bars in the Macon jail on charges of aggravated assault and false imprisonment.

The Houston County Commission back in session this evening at 6 o’clock at the Houston County Annex on Carl Vinson Parkway, Warner Robins. Items up for discussion include year end budget adjustments and a look at the county employee fitness plan.
