The State of Georgia's University System has added over 5,000 employees over the past 5 years... according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Locally, the new hiring isn't as large as numbers may suggest. According to Nancy Stroud, Vice President for Fiscal Affairs at Macon State College, most of the new hires are working at a payroll center, outsourced from the school. Stroud adds, the only true new hires the school has made in the past several years are a police chief, and heads of resident affairs for the dorms, as well as a couple nursing instructors for expected growth in the nursing program this coming year.
