Westfield’s girls have earned a spot in the GISA championship game. The Lady Hornets beat Stratford 41-28 Friday in the confines of host Georgia College and State University and will now play Arlington Christian for the title.

Arlington Christian beat Westminster to earn its berth. It is also the defending champion.

The two did play back on Dec. 2 with Arlington coming away with the win, 69-60. But as Head Coach Cass Cassell and the Lady Hornets would tell you: They’ve come a long way since then. The game is set for today, Saturday, at 8:30 p.m., still at GCSU.

On Friday, Westfield led 23-14 at the half and were never really serious threatened by the Lady Eagles in the third or fourth – typically up by at least nine.

Jeannia Rust helped lead them on offense. She had 11 points and also added 11 rebounds.
