Under the leadership of Dr. Phil Gentry, Perry High School agriculture teacher, Perry High has won the Outstanding Postsecondary/Adult Agricultural Education Program award for the Southeastern U.S. The National Association of Agricultural Educators chose only four winners nationwide. Dr. Gentry will be recognized at the 2011 NAAE Convention in St. Louis, Missouri on Nov. 15th through the 19th.

“As usual, the competition for these awards was intense,” wrote Alissa F. Smith, NAAE Associate Executive Director located in Lexington, Ky. “I congratulate all of you on your outstanding accomplishments as state winners. You are, indeed, individuals who make our association strong and our profession proud.”

Dr. Gentry’s awards include:

• two-year lease on a Toyota Tundra;

• lodging and travel costs to NAAE convention;

• registration to the NAAE Convention;

• an engraved plaque; and

• a special dinner and reception in honor of the winners.

Dr. Gentry initially was named the 2010 Georgia Young Farmer Advisor of the Year. From there, he went to the next and final level of this competition, for Region V representing the Southeastern U.S.
