Despite the rain we had yesterday houston county remains under a burn ban from all the dry weather we have been having this summer.

As of now the burn ban is set to remain in effect until september 30th according to the georgia forestry commission.

Houston county is just one of 54 georgia counties who remain under burning restrictions.

The outdoor burning ban is under the jurisdiction of the georgia department of natural resources environmental protection division.

The burn ban prohibits residents from burning off any yard debris or having any open fires in their yard.

This has caused issues for some people with clearing off yard waste.

The patriot talked to houston county commissioers chariman tommy stalnaker to find out what you should do to with your yard debris.
