Fatal accident at intersection of Russell and Corder

Warner Robins Police Department responded to the intersection of Russell Parkway and Corder Road in reference to a traffic collision.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2006 Harley Davidson Sportster, operated by Woody Hudgens, 45, was westbound on Russell Parkway. Ginger Palmer, 29, was a passenger on the motorcycle. At the same time, a 2005 Chevy Suburban, operated by Paula Pender, 59, was traveling eastbound on Russell Parkway when she attempted to turn left onto Corder Road. The motorcycle and the suburban collided at the intersection.

Mr. Hudgens was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ms. Palmer sustained multiple injuries and was transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia. She is listed in critical condition. Ms. Pender did not sustain any injuries. Charges are pending at this time.

Traffic Investigator Tim Pippio of the Warner Robins Police Department Traffic Division is investigating this traffic collision.

I drive on Russell Pkwy everyday. I believe this intersection for people turning north onto Corder is very dangerous for both the people turning and for the people traveling west because westbound traffic is coming over the hill. I believe the turn signals at this intersection should be change to only allow turning on green turn signal.
