Team chemistry is just one of the key ingredients to a successful season for the Westfield Hornets. The Triple-A GISA team from Perry is 30 and 5 this year, and Head Coach Rob Fitzpatrick says the production has been throughout the entire lineup.

The Hornets, who have made winning a tradition in the 2011 season, say they expected to play for a State Championship, a goal they set last summer.

The Hornets baseball team has several multi-sport athletes, and for those coming from football and basketball seasons, finishing just short of a Championship is a feeling they've felt one time too many. But advancing to the State Championship in baseball this Spring is where they leave their hope. Stringing together success all season long, the Hornets say where one player struggles, another picks him up.

Westfield heads to the State Championship game after sweeping Stratford last weekend at home, and their opponent, Deerfield-Windsor, is a region rival they know too well.

Game 1 scheduled for Friday night at 5:30 as the Hornets look to bring the State Championship back to Westfield for the first time in two decades inthe best of three series.
