The Central Georgia Volleyball Association will hold tryouts today (Nov. 2) and Thursday (Nov. 4) from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Second Baptist Church Family Life Center (main gym).

According to the organization’s website at eteamz.com/cgva1/, both tryout dates are open to all ages.

Second Baptist is located at 2504 Moody Road in Warner Robins.

CGVA, according to its website, is a non-profit Junior National volleyball club registered with the Southern Region Volleyball Association belonging to the USA Volleyball Association - the national governing body for volleyball.

CGVA, according to the website, is an “all volunteer association that organizes volleyball for juniors (ages 10-18) in the Middle Georgia area to compete in competitive USAV sanctioned regional and national tournaments. Players are taught the basics of volleyball and teamwork from the early ages and then continue to refine, improve, and master the game through their senior year of high school.

“Tournaments provide the opportunity for all players to showcase these skills in a competitive environment with exposure to university and college recruiters.”

The CGVA was established six years ago to support one team, according to the website, and approximately 12 girls. “Last year we had six teams (U13, U14, U15, U16, U17 and U18),” it reads, “involving 65 girls ranging in ages from 10 to 18. Boys are welcome as we hope to field a boy’s team this year.”

"The season runs from November until April - November-February for U12/U13. Typically each team will practice twice a week and will participate in a tournament every two to three weeks. Tournaments will be held throughout the southern region. Most will be played in Atlanta but potential tournament sites include Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida."
