A well know Warner Robins man now facing more charges of child molestation, as two more warrants have been taken out against Shelly Simmons. That brings the total count of alleged child sex crimes to four, all against different victims. Simmons now free on a twenty thousand dollar bond after turning himself in Friday. He’s best remembered as a press box announcer at McConnell Talbert Stadium during the 1970’s and 80’s.
A food recall to pass along to you. Ground beef produced by Tyson Fresh Meats and sold by Harvey’s Supermarkets could be tainted. To be on the safe side Harvey’s is recalling all fresh in-store ground beef with sell by dates between November 1 and November 15 for a full refund. More details at Harveys-supermarkets.com.
A new exhibit at the Museum of Aviation drawing attention over the weekend. It took over a decade to compile the artifacts for the new Tuskegee Airman display, so a Friday night gala dedication ceremony followed by a free Sunday public screening of a movie featuring the pioneer air group seemed in order. The Tuskegee Airman were the all black American fighter pilots in World War 2 who helped break barriers of discrimination in the military and beyond. The exhibit remains open to the public.
Christmas Day of course just around the corner…then what to do with that live tree? Well, don’t just toss it out! Bring it to The Great Christmas Tree Round-up on Saturday January 7th from 8 am until 1pm on Maple Street in Warner Robins, just in front of the water tower. The mulch made from your tree will serve in numerous beautification projects around town, and you’ll receive a free seedling to plant in return.
