Your Houston County Headlines for Thursday Morning, August 3, 2012

Your Houston County Weather: Mostly sunny, later summer storms possible, highs in the mid 90s.

That shooting last night in Warner Robins is now being treated as a possible murder. The victim, 38 year old Keith Moses, died at the Medical Center of Central Georgia this morning. He had been shot in the chest at a house on Crestwood Terrace last night sometime around 8. Lawmen want to question four men who left the scene in a white colored four door car. If you have any information on the incident please call Warner Robins police at 929-6911.

Parvo is a deadly and highly contagious disease affecting dogs, especially those living in close quarters. Unfortunately, that’s just what officers at the Warner Robins Animal Control Shelter are having to deal with. The shelter has been shut down until at least August 15th while the animals there are treated in quarantine. Animal adoptions and intake ate tentatively scheduled to resume on the 15th. Meanwhile, Animal Control Officers will still be on duty and will respond to calls about vicious or injured animals.

Its back to the baseball diamond today for the Warner Robins American Little league All Stars. The 11 and 12 year old boys represent Georgia in the Southeast Regional Tournament to see who will go on to Williamsport, Pennsylvania and a shot at World Series Glory. Their first match-up comes at 7m versus North Carolina. Meanwhile plenty of other Regional action as well – we’ll have all of it covered live, play by play, all day long on AM 1350.

A heads up to motorists at Robins Air Force Base. The Air National Guard gate will be closed for the next six to eight weeks – that’s Gate 15. The shutdown affects both traffic going on and off the base. Security upgrades the reason for closure.

A mother and her young daughter lost their lives there back in May when they were struck by an oncoming train. Now that deadly railroad crossing at Ignico Drive near Highway 247 has a new safety feature. Newly installed crossing arms will help warn motorists of approaching locomotives. The work by Norfolk Southern was done in record time after a public outcry following that tragic accident.
