Added to Veterans’ woes is that those last two opponents are Mary Persons – Friday – and Baldwin. The Bulldogs are 6-2 overall and 4-1 in 2-AAAA. The Braves are 4-4, 3-2.
As Veterans Head Coach David Bruce said last week before the loss to West Laurens: “We’re just going to take it one game at a time.”
First things first then comes Mary Persons.
“They’re a good, solid, football team,” Bruce said. “They’re well-coached. Those kids play hard. They’re going to run the ball on you on offense. When they do throw it they’re pretty effective with it … We’ve got our hands full. They’ve got a lot momentum right now … they beat Baldwin last week. They’re in the driver’s seat to be that number two seed and I know that’s important to them. I know they’re going to come down here and play us hard.
“By the same token, we’ve got to have some character and show some durability, tenacity, get out there and get after them, play with some pride, have some pride, and get out there and try to find a way to win on Senior Night.”
