Today was the 17th annual "Pink Picnic" in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month at the Museum of Aviation.

　

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in the Museum of Aviation's Century of Flight Hangar this morning, all the pink certainly made it hard to miss. The picnic was attended by 580 people: breast cancer survivors, supporters, and community members who wanted to learn more about breast cancer awareness

Heidi Marble was given 18 months to live when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer. In order to explain her struggle to her young son, she wrote the book "Waiting for Wings" about her battle with breast cancer. After a hysterectomy and mastectomy, Heidi was able to defeat breast cancer, and has been cancer free for 13 years.

The Pink Picnic is all about girl power, breast cancer awareness, and celebrating survivors. Cosmetology students from Middle Georgia Technical College were applying pink strands to the hair of attendees, to support breast cancer survivors.
