Chuck Poole came up well short in his bid for a third world championship in horseshoes. Poole, who won a title in the Elders G Class last year and also won a championship in 2009, finished 13th in the Elder’s B2 Class at the World Horseshoe Tournament held July 30-Aug. 11 in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Warner Robins Horseshoe Pitcher’s Club member was 5-10 with 319 ringers out of 600 pitched.

Homer Page out of Pennsylvania won that class with a 12-4 record.

Another Warner Robins Horseshoe Pitcher’s Club member, Dane Clark, was fifth in the Men’s E1 Class.

Clark finished with a 10-5 record and had 232 ringers out of 600 pitched.

Vern Blackford of Illinois was first in that class with a 13-2 record.
