Bethlehem Christian played the spoiler for Central Fellowship Christian Academy’s Homecoming Friday night in a game played at Windsor Academy.

The Knights jumped out to a 25-6 halftime lead, led 31-12 heading into the third and then hang on for a 31-26 win.

A pass completion of 12 yards from Chandler Garman to Niko Mailloux, with the extra point, gave the visitors a 7-0 lead with 5:25 left in the first.

The Lancers answered that on Dante Jenkins’ 16-yard run but the PAT failed.

That’s how it stood after one.

Graham Doolittle raced 48 yards for another score for Bethlehem Christian with 6:13 left in the second. This time its PAT failed but that seemed to matter little when a Central Fellowship punt was blocked and returned the other way for another score.

A 60-yard interception return made it 25-6 at the half.

Bethlehem took the ball to open the third and scored on a 35-yard pass play from Garman to Graham Doolittle.

The Lancers, after an interception and a fumble killed any attempt at a score, finally got on board again with 2:25 left to go in the third. That came when quarterback Jack Kelly hit Dante Jenkins with an 80-yard touchdown pass and that cut the lead to 31-12.

Two interceptions on Central Fellowship and one via Bethlehem marked the beginning of the fourth.

Finally with just over two minutes left to play, Kelly found Shaw Doolittle down the right side for a 30-yard touchdown. Madison Duggan’s point after made it 31-19.

The Lancers attempted the on-sides kick and were successful. Two plays later Kelly hit Doolittle again. Duggan made it 31-26 with just 13 seconds left.

Again Central Fellowship tried the on-sides kick and again was successful. It got the ball on its own 48. Kelly was dropped for a loss on the first play. On the second he hit a receiver on the 40. But that came with the clock down to nothing leaving the Lancers just short of pulling off a Homecoming miracle.
