Central Fellowship fought two battles Friday while hosting Gatewood Schools for Senior Night: Itself and the visitor.

The Lancers, in falling 56-0, started the night off well, picking up a first down on their first possession. After being forced to punt, they then held Gatewood to three-and-out. It was pretty much downhill from there.

Central Fellowship fumbled the ball on its own 27 following. Gatewood turned that into a touchdown. After giving up 42 yards on the kickoff and a 22-yard run for another score, the Lancers fumbled again – this time the kickoff. Gatewood again made them pay and after forcing Central Fellowship to another three-and-out, scored again, this time from 24 yards out.

That came with just over a minute left in the first.

The Lancers showed signs of getting back in the ballgame to start the second quarter. Ezra Hargrove made a couple of big runs for first downs. Marcus Curry and Andrew Rozier did likewise.

But faced with a fourth-and-one from the 19 they were called for a false start. They still went for it and came up short.

Gatewood took over and rolled on to victory.
