Entries open for 94th Atlanta Amateur Match Play championship

Entries are now being accepted for the 2012 Atlanta Amateur Match Play Championship, which takes place October 4-7 at Rivermont Golf and Country Club in Johns Creek. This event is open to male amateur golfers and the field will consist of 120 players with the lowest USGA Handicap Indexes.

The format is match play preceded by 18-hole stroke play qualifying. The low 31 and defending champion advance.

Last year, Brandon Nelson of Roswell won the 93rd annual Atlanta Amateur Match Play Championship on his home course, Rivermont Golf & Country Club in Johns Creek. Nelson defeated Fred Rescigno, Jr., of Suwanee, 1 up, in the final match.

Qualified players must enter online at the GSGA website at www.gsga.org by clicking the Online Registration quick link. The deadline for entries is Wednesday, September 12.
