The final was 35-14, Warner Robins, but the score did not reflect the battle the Demons had on their hands Friday at Grovetown.

Three of those scores for Warner Robins came in the fourth quarter as the two entered that period tied at 14.

Danny Hite’s six-yard run – far exceeding the initial goal of picking up a fourth-and-two – and Matt Monday’s point after finally got the Demons out front for good.

DD Wright on a 14-yard run about five minutes later and Wright on a 30-yard run about a minute after that finally provided the cushion.

Warner Robins Head Coach Bryan Way pointed out in the pregame interview that Grovetown was a lot better than its 2-5 record coming in indicated. In fact, Way said, its first three losses were against “tough” teams. Way said he felt that helped prepare them for when they hit the region, and coming in to tonight’s ballgame they were 2-2 in that regard (2-AAAAA).

The first half had Way sounding plenty right as it was hard-fought and just 7-0, Demons, at that point. Their touchdown came via a 17-yard run from Reggie Gordon.

Jamal Cummings tied it for the Warriors on a 36-yard run in the second. Wright put them back on top 14-7 on a four-yard run – plus Monday kick – but the third quarter was all the host. Cummings tied it on a one-yard run but Grovetown also missed a fieldgoal and a golden opportunity on a Demons fumble.

That in turn gave way to the fourth quarter, which again, Warner Robins was finally able to break open the game.
