CFCA earns playoff berth

Central Fellowship has earned a spot in the GISA Class AA state playoffs. The Lancers did so by beating Covenant Academy 25-14 Thursday at host site Windsor.

Both teams finished the first quarter tied at eight.

Marcus Curry, who led all rushers with 115 yards on 19 carries, scored for Central Fellowship on a 54-yard run. He then made the two-point conversion.

Russell Freel, one of two quarterbacks used by Covenant, helped it answer when he punched it in from the 1. Jake Boker successfully made the two-point conversion.

The Lancers began to pull away in the second courtesy of 10 points.

Andrew Rozier – 108 yards on 11 carries - netted six points on a 53-yard run. Madison Dugan made the extra point and then later kicked a 37-yard fieldgoal.

After a scoreless third, Ezra Hargrove, who had 64 yards on 14 carries, scored on a 10-yard run. Dugan again made the extra point.

Freel put Covenant’s final points on the board with a 21-yard run.

In all, Central Fellowship had 303 yards rushing and 20 passing. Covenant rushing for 230 and passed for 59.

Owen Freel was their leading rusher with 79 on 10 carries. Reed Walters has 70 on 11 carries.
