“Well it was a great win for us, especially coming off the bad game against Tift County.” So said Houston County Head Coach Greg Robinson on his team’s 41-7 win over Northside-Columbus this past weekend. “You know I thought our kids were ready to play,” Robinson continued, “especially with all of the distractions, last week being Homecoming. And I thought they did a great job of getting focused and going out and doing what they’re supposed to do.

“Really, really happy with the defense causing four or five turnovers and extremely happy with the offense for taking advantage of those turnovers so it was just a good night for HoCo.”

Now comes a bye week for the 2-1 Bears and then following that they will travel Grovetown to begin Region 2-AAAAA action.

As far as the off week, one thing Houston County will not have to work on, Robinson said.

“Well, we feel like we can run the football and we feel like we’ve got our play now. Up until the other night I didn’t know what my running play was. We had two or three we were messing around with.”

Other than that then: “I think we’re kind of settled down on that so we’re just good old fundamentals, blocking and tackling, executing, making sure we know our keys. We’re playing against a Wing T team coming up so keys are important. Getting lined up is important. Just basically fundamentals.”
