The community gathered today to remember Pastor Dr. Willie Reid Senior, who died on Friday.
He founded Fellowship Bible Baptist church in 1980. The one-room storefront church grew to what is now a 3,000 member congregation that assembles each week at the Faith Dome.
Reid also helped to plant and support 14 other churches.
Dr. Reid earned a Doctorate of Pastoral Counseling and was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Divinity.
Reid is survived by his wife of 38 years, Gloria, daughter, Lorea and sons, Willie, Jr. and Ryan.
Willie Louis Reid, Senior lived from June 8, 1951 to May 4, 2012.
