Tim Thomas was surrounded by his friends and family today as he announced that he is running for City Council Post 2. Thomas, a local business owner, is a native of Warner Robins and says his love for the city is what prompted him to run.
"I've been in business in Warner Robins for 25 years, I own rental property in Warner Robins, I have been in this town my entire life and I just feel like it is time for me to step up. If I am going to be vocal in this community then I need to be willing to serve in this community and that is what I am going to do."
Thomas says he will be running on a platform of fiscal responsibility and ethical behavior. He says the finances of the city are of upmost importance and he will work to make sure the tax payer's money is spent appropriately.
"If you are a citizen of Warner Robins and you are tired of wasteful spending you have got to vote for Tim Thomas for city council because I am very conservative with our money. The stocks are going down fast, the real estate market is crazy and the one thing we have got to be is smart with our money."
Post 2 is an at large seat which means, if elected, he will represent the entire city, not just one district. The seat is currently held by Councilman Tom Simms. Simms could not be reached for comment; it is still unknown if he will seek re-election.
Thomas says he loves and believes in the city of Warner Robins, and that is why he wants to serve in this position.
"I believe in Warner Robins now I am asking Warner Robins to believe in Tim Thomas and make me the next Councilman for Post 2-- at large-- come November."
